FROM THE MUSIC DIRECTOR

Welcome to this Symphonic Celebration of 5 Years of Sensational Sounds! This season is an important milestone for our orchestra as we now contemplate all that we have accomplished in such a short period, and set the course for many more years of innovation and leadership in the orchestra world.

From the popular sounds of film scores by John Williams, Christmas favorites, and spirited spiritual and gospel selections, to the majesty of great classics by Beethoven, Ravel, and Bernstein, there will be something for everybody this season with TSO. We are also innovating by commissioning an original composition from Texarkana-native Clint Needham in honor of this anniversary. The memory of this great year will live for generations through the creation of this artist.

This season, again, we are fulfilling our promise of presenting world-class guest artists to enhance the quality of every TSO concert. We are proud to bring back soprano Jane Redding after her rousing Viva Opera! performance of March 2008 with our orchestra. Young violinist Elena Urioste is sure to make head turns as this talented young musician perform Sibelius’ Violin Concerto with TSO. And the charms of Leslie Harper and Stacy James Mayo will make this Christmas concert one Holiday special to remember.
