Dear Friends, On behalf of the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra board, staff, and musicians, we want to thank our community for its support of the TSO. Through the generosity of many, the TSO has been enriching the lives of Texarkana area residents with live, local music performances and education opportunities for three seasons. We hope that you will join us for this new season of engaging our community through the love of music. Romance has sometimes been defined as “celebrating life through music,” and the TSO is excited to do just that this season with our theme…Isn’t it Romantic. Whether through the emotional melodic lines of Dvorak’s Cello Concerto or the sensual drive of Orff’s Carmina Burana, the TSO is all about romancing our audience with great symphonic music performances in 2009-2010! Romance often begins with investing one’s time and resources for the betterment of someone else. So, with a heart for our community, the TSO will spend just over $300,000.00 in gifts and grants to present 3 masterworks concerts, a Christmas pops concert, 2 student concerts, and to sustain the Texarkana Youth Symphony Orchestra as well as our various education and outreach programs. Since romance is also a two way street, we hope you will consider increasing your patron Finally, while financial stability is vitally important to our existence, even more so is the goal of building lasting relationships within the community. It is those relationships that made the dream of a symphony orchestra in Texarkana possible, and it is those relationships which will carry us into an amazing musical future for our city!
